The window, the reason it is that window, and an honest answer about what we will not publish.
Govardhan Puja follows Pratipada (1st tithi) of Shukla Paksha in Kartik, the day after Diwali. The ritual window is set by the tithi and by the position of the moon relative to the lagna for your location — which is why the same festival has a slightly different puja window in Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai even though the civil date is the same.
Because of that, we do not publish city-by-city muhurat minutes. Getting a muhurat wrong is a genuinely harmful error — people plan their day, their travel and their leave around it — and we cannot verify every city against a reliable panchang. A number we cannot stand behind is worse than telling you where to look.
For the exact window in your city, check a location-specific panchang or your family’s usual almanac. What we can tell you reliably is the date, the day of the week, whether it is a multi-day observance, and where the date itself differs between regions — all of which is below.

Annakut or Annakoot means 'mountain of food'. It refers to the large spread of vegetarian dishes cooked and offered to Krishna on Govardhan Puja, traditionally 56 (chhappan bhog) or 108 dishes in temples, representing the Govardhan hill.
The day honours the cattle that sustain an agricultural household and the natural systems that produce food. Cows are washed, decorated, fed first, and worshipped before the family eats.
Yes. In Gujarat, the day after Diwali is Bali Pratipada and the start of the Gujarati new year, when new account books are opened and 'Saal Mubarak' is exchanged.
