Poda Pithaपोड़ा पिठा
The Odia offering made for Jagannath at the Mausi Maa temple on the return journey — a slow-cooked rice and jaggery cake that is a signature of the festival.

Ingredients
- 2 cups rice, soaked and ground
- 1 cup jaggery
- 1/2 cup grated coconut
- Cardamom, black pepper
- Ghee
- Banana leaf
Method
- Soak the rice for 4 hours and grind to a coarse batter.
- Mix in jaggery, coconut, cardamom and a pinch of pepper.
- Wrap in a banana leaf and bake in a covered pan or oven on low heat for about an hour.
- Cool, cut into thick slices, and serve. It keeps for several days.
