The window, the reason it is that window, and an honest answer about what we will not publish.
Sharad Purnima follows Ashwin Purnima (the full moon of Ashwin), shortly after Dussehra. The ritual window is set by the tithi and by the position of the moon relative to the lagna for your location — which is why the same festival has a slightly different puja window in Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai even though the civil date is the same.
Because of that, we do not publish city-by-city muhurat minutes. Getting a muhurat wrong is a genuinely harmful error — people plan their day, their travel and their leave around it — and we cannot verify every city against a reliable panchang. A number we cannot stand behind is worse than telling you where to look.
For the exact window in your city, check a location-specific panchang or your family’s usual almanac. What we can tell you reliably is the date, the day of the week, whether it is a multi-day observance, and where the date itself differs between regions — all of which is below.

Your local time · Sunday 25 October 2026
Sharad Purnima falls in late October 2026, on the Ashwin Purnima following Dussehra and Navratri. Check the local panchang for the exact date.
The belief is that the full moon on this night is the brightest of the year and that its light infuses the kheer with amrit, making it auspicious to eat the next morning. The dish is left uncovered in the open through the night.
Kojagari is the Bengali name for Sharad Purnima, from 'ko jagarti' — who is awake? Lakshmi is believed to visit homes whose occupants stay awake through the night, so a full vigil is kept alongside a household Lakshmi puja.
The Braj name for the same full moon, marking Krishna's ras lila with the gopis. It is the central date of the Raas Lila performance tradition in Braj and in Manipur, where it is danced at the Govindji temple.
