When Vaisakhi puja is performed in 2026, and why the timing window matters. We explain the basis for the timings and tell you where to check your local muhurat rather than publishing a number we cannot verify.

The window, the reason it is that window, and an honest answer about what we will not publish.
Vaisakhi follows 1 Vaisakh in the Nanakshahi calendar, fixed at 13 or 14 April. The ritual window is set by the tithi and by the position of the moon relative to the lagna for your location — which is why the same festival has a slightly different puja window in Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai even though the civil date is the same.
Because of that, we do not publish city-by-city muhurat minutes. Getting a muhurat wrong is a genuinely harmful error — people plan their day, their travel and their leave around it — and we cannot verify every city against a reliable panchang. A number we cannot stand behind is worse than telling you where to look.
For the exact window in your city, check a location-specific panchang or your family’s usual almanac. What we can tell you reliably is the date, the day of the week, whether it is a multi-day observance, and where the date itself differs between regions — all of which is below.

Vaisakhi 2026
Vaisakhi falls on 14 April 2026, fixed by the Nanakshahi calendar, which is a solar calendar. Unlike most Indian festivals, the date does not shift year to year.
On Vaisakhi in 1699, Guru Gobind Singh initiated the Khalsa at Anandpur Sahib, which is the founding event of the Sikh community as it is organised today. The day is therefore also called Khalsa Sirjana Divas.
A public procession led by the Panj Pyare — the five beloved ones — carrying the Sikh standard, with kirtan singing and langar served along the route. It is open to everyone, and non-Sikhs are welcome to participate.
No. Langar is open to everyone regardless of religion, caste or background. That universality is central to the practice, and Vaisakhi is one of the largest langar days of the year.
