The window, the reason it is that window, and an honest answer about what we will not publish.
Paryushan follows Eight days in Bhadrapada, ending on Samvatsari; the Digambar Das Lakshan runs ten days. The ritual window is set by the tithi and by the position of the moon relative to the lagna for your location — which is why the same festival has a slightly different puja window in Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai even though the civil date is the same.
Because of that, we do not publish city-by-city muhurat minutes. Getting a muhurat wrong is a genuinely harmful error — people plan their day, their travel and their leave around it — and we cannot verify every city against a reliable panchang. A number we cannot stand behind is worse than telling you where to look.
For the exact window in your city, check a location-specific panchang or your family’s usual almanac. What we can tell you reliably is the date, the day of the week, whether it is a multi-day observance, and where the date itself differs between regions — all of which is below.

Paryushan 2026
Paryushan 2026 falls in September, with Samvatsari on the last day. Shvetambar Paryushan runs eight days and Digambar Das Lakshan runs ten. Confirm the exact dates against a Jain calendar, as the two traditions differ.
It means roughly 'may my wrongdoings come to nothing'. It is said on Samvatsari to seek forgiveness from everyone, including people you are estranged from. It is now commonly sent by message as well as in person.
Pratikraman is a formal ritual of reflection and repentance in which the devotee reviews their past actions, recites the appropriate sutras, and asks for forgiveness. It is performed daily during Paryushan, most intensively on Samvatsari.
It varies widely. Some devotees fast for the full eight days taking only boiled water, others fast on alternate days or take a single meal a day, and many observe a partial fast. The level is chosen according to health and capacity — Jain practice does not require an eight-day waterless fast.
