A Paryushan meal for days when devotees are eating once — Jain-compliant, without onion, garlic, or root vegetables, and light enough for a fasting body.

Ingredients
- Sama or moraiyo rice
- Moong dal without skin
- Curd
- Seasonal gourd sabzi
- Rotli made from rajgira or regular atta
- Jaggery and ghee
Method
- Cook the sama or moraiyo rice with a little ghee and salt.
- Prepare a plain moong dal with cumin and turmeric — no onion or garlic.
- Cook a bottle gourd or ridge gourd sabzi with cumin and coriander.
- Serve with rotli, curd and a piece of jaggery. Keep the meal light; the point is not indulgence.
